Mickie Arnett -
Guitarist, singer/songwriter

How Do you go about writing a Bio? My first thought was to tell funny anecdotes about Grant that is pretty much my first reaction to everything. Maybe the one about the time he got lost in the German coutryside after drinking too much beer and we found him lying in the middle of a cow pasture holding a teddy bear and a piece of licorice. But I figure that everybody has probably been through that at one point in time or another (except the licorice...), so here it goes...

Basic info:
High School: Miamisburg, Ohio
College: Ohio state University: Where my favorite places were the library and the jailhouse (Aptly named bars around my apartment).
Degree: ...Insert funny joke here...
Residence: San Diego, Ca (5 yrs.)
Family: Wife: Angie Daughter: Katie and assorted other lost souls
Influences: Beatles, Eagles, Metallica, STP, Edwin Mccain, Garth Brooks, Jimmy Buffet, REM. The list goes on to include almost any southern rock/ classic rock you can name.
Albums: Beatles White Album, STP Purple
Pastimes: Reading, Writing,
the Ocean, my family

Here is where it gets interesting. I had picked up a guitar a few times throughout my life, but never really did anything with it. I just learned enough to get drunk at college parties and play Margaritaville very badly. Then I moved to California, sold my guitars, and stopped playing for a few years. One day though, I was driving by a pawnshop and had the strongest urge to buy a guitar. Too bad the only one they had was a $50.00 beater that stayed in tune so well my neighbors thought I was taking Sitar lessons. After several sessions of bleeding fingers, I started playing again. However stereotypical, typical, lame, (add Derogatory Term here), it sounds, I wrote a song after September 11th, 2001. since then, I have not stopped, constantly writing. After becoming a regular at a few open mics, and befriending a few local musicians, I decided it was time to record. With some help from some friends, and Andy Machin at Big Rock Studios, a CD was created. that was supposed to be the end of it. Then one day this weird looking guy (insert Grant joke Here) comes to pick up his sister (who worked for me at the time). It wasn't love at first sight. I didn't even hear an Angel sing. Little did I know that a chance run in would lead me to start a band? But here I am now. As the project came together, we pulled together people from all different styles to play. It blended perfectly with my style: Alt Rock, singer/songwriter, southern rock, pop, folk, and acoustic rock all rolled into one, put in a blender, and then shaken, not stirred until the proper consistency. When it came time to come up with a band name, my first thought was Distorted View. Realizing that the name sounds more like a thrash metal band. The name mutated into BROKEN VIEW. It is meant to be a statement about people and there own views of reality. Either way, look for us in your local clubs/pubs and come check us out. PS, please feel free to download and share our music. That is what music is meant for. --- Mickie Arnett
